As part of a shift in emphasis for this site from a straightforward blog to more of a resource site, I’m sharing various tips & tricks about web design for photographers, especially WordPress and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). I’m figuring you found me by typing Liverpool Photographer into a search engine and, hopefully, I should be in or around the top position for that search term. I managed this by using straightforward SEO techniques, which I’ll be going into in upcoming articles, plus I’ll look at setting up and managing a site using WordPress and recommend suitable themes and plug-ins.
First up though – a little word of advice for anyone who is contemplating getting a site built by a web designer, friend, or the daughter of your next door neighbour:
buy the domain and hosting yourself.
I speak to so many people who tell the same story of not having access to their site because they’ve lost touch with the person who set the site up. Only today I was speaking to a friend from a cult Liverpool band who didn’t have the control he wanted over his site for that very reason. Don’t let the same happen to you.
