Today finally saw me pay a visit to the Open Eye Gallery in its new home down at Mann Island. Sadly I missed the opening Mitch Epstein show as I was out of the country, however I particularly enjoyed today’s Simone Lueck exhibition, whilst the Richard & Famous exhibition was a most entertaining look at celebrity culture.

Upstairs is the Archive Exhibition, which currently has a collection of Martin Parr’s ‘painted photographs’. The collection of found press and publicity images of stars have been ‘painted’ by magazines and contain notes and crop marks.

The Albert Dock in the fog

The recent fog has made for some excellent photo opportunities. Fog and mist are my possibly my favourite weather conditions to shoot in.

A shot of the Pump House pub down at the Albert Dock, taken during the recent spell of foggy weather. I feel the black and white conversion gives it a look of old Liverpool.

On Sunday 11th April I was involved in the NorthernNET Four Hour Film Challenge at the FACT Cinema and Art Gallery in Liverpool. The event taking place simultaneously in Leeds, Liverpool and Newcastle challenged 15 teams of film makers to produce a 4 minute film in just four hours. The movies had to be shot, edited and delivered in the allotted time. The movies are then transmitted via the MAB’s (Media Access Bureau) to be screened to the live audiences in each city.

A panel of judges spread across the three cities will then debate via a live satellite link to award a trophy to best film, actress and actor. Here are just a few of the many shots from the day.

After much debate (with myself anyway) I’ve finally updated my personal site. With large images and a minimal look it marks a change in my direction which I’ll write about another time. The images dynamically resize images in the portfolio it’s a joy if you’ve got a big screen. 1280 X 1024 recommended. Visit the site… Liverpool Photographer

A fire escape on Harrington Street in Liverpool city centre. The bright sunshine creating a shot that looks more like New York than Liverpool. Harrington St runs parallel to probably the most famous street in Liverpool, Mathew St.
